Hangzhou athletes win five more medals at Tokyo Paralympics

Athletes from Hangzhou in East China's Zhejiang province won five more medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on Aug 27 and 28.

Tan Yujiao won a gold medal in the Women's-67kg Final. Born in 1990, Tan had won gold medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympics and two editions of Asian Para Games.

Li Zhangyu bagged a gold medal in the Men's C1-3 1000m Time Trial, setting a world record with 1 minute 3 seconds and 877 and also won a silver gold with his teammate in the Mixed C1-5 750m Team Sprint Final.

Previously, Li won a bronze medal in the Men's C2 3000m Individual Pursuit Final at the Games.

Another two silver golds were garnered by Wang Lichao in Men's 50m Butterfly-S5 Final and Xu Haijiao in Men's 200m Individual Medley-SM8 Final.

Wang previously won a gold medal in the Mixed 4×50m Freestyle Relay and a silver medal in the Men's 100m Freestyle at the Games.

Born in 1994, Xu won two silver and two bronze medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. He has since won six gold and three silver medals at the 2018 Asian Para Games, where he broke Asian records.

As of Aug 28, Hangzhou athletes had collected eight medals at the Games.
