Shangcheng to launch tourist-dedicated train for Southwest China

Shangcheng district in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, is expected to launch its first tourist-dedicated train for Southwest China on Oct 22, according to officials at a promotion meeting held in the city on Oct 11.

The train, which will be launched by the Shangcheng culture, radio, tourism and sports bureau, will spend nine days and eight nights traveling 2,000 kilometers, during which it will pass by 10 scenic spots in Jiangsu, Hunan, and Sichuan provinces.

Passengers will not only admire beautiful views of the plains and grand plateau scenery, but also enjoy delicious food along the journey.

"The move aims to boost promote the tourism industry in Garze and Jiange counties, Sichuan and help revitalize local rural areas," said Chen Shiqing, deputy director of the bureau.

Tickets for the train are expected to be 3,680 yuan ($570) per upper berth and 4,080 yuan per lower berth.
